You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go...

Accelerated Reader is a computerized learning system designed to help motivate, monitor and manage student’s independent reading. Books are assigned a reading level. Students take a reading assessment (STAR Reading) to determine their reading level range.

Students read a book within their range and take a quiz for that book on a computer in the school. Implementation of the program is determined by the teacher.

The program is web based and there are around 160,000 quizzes available to the students. They may not, however, take quizzes at home. Please look for a letter, soon, that will explain the Home Connection part of this program.

First graders will begin using the program in January.

Book Fair

The STAR reading assessment is taken the first two weeks of school, around Christmas break and at the end of the school for grades 2-8.

First Grade starts STAR reading assessments after the Christmas Break.

Kindergarten does not complete the STAR reading assessment.
